Our Rooms
Maples Room (4–5 Years)
The Maples Room is the final step before primary school, focusing on the skills needed for a smooth transition. With an emphasis on emotional and social development, along with growing independence, this year helps your child develop confidence, problem-solving abilities, and a lifelong love of learning.
Program and Benefits
While our program remains flexible and adaptable, the primary focus in the Maples Room is on the following goals:
Social Development
Children deepen their understanding of friendship and the boundaries of social interactions. They practice resolving conflicts, sharing, and cooperating in group activities
Emotional Development
Your child will continue to develop emotional regulation skills, including how to manage frustration, anxiety, and other emotions. They also learn to recognise and respond to emotions in their peers, fostering empathy.
Self-Help Skills
Building on the skills learned in the Willow Room, children further develop their independence with tasks such as toileting, dressing, and managing their personal belongings.
School Readiness Program
In the Maples Room, we focus on helping your child build the skills that will ensure they are fully prepared for school:
Recognition and Writing
Your child will begin recognising their own name and making attempts to write it.
Responsibility
Children will develop a sense of responsibility, particularly when it comes to taking care of their belongings and keeping their learning environment tidy.
Confidence
We work on developing your child’s confidence to speak in front of others, express their ideas, and ask for help when needed.
Numeracy Skills
Basic numeracy skills such as counting a small number of objects are introduced and reinforced.
Transition to School Weeks
We hold several "Transition to School" weeks, which include activities like Uniform Week, Lunch Box Week and Tuck Shop Week. These activities are designed to prepare your child for school routines and ensure they feel confident in their new environment.
Transition to Primary School
The Maples Room builds on the experiences and skills developed in the Willow Room, offering a play-based environment that nurtures children’s interests and prepares them for a smooth transition to big school.
Excursions and Incursions
Excursions and incursions are an integral part of our learning experience at Naremburn Early Learning Centre, enriching children’s understanding of the world around them. Each activity is carefully planned based on the children’s interests and current learning themes, making every adventure both fun and educational.
We also run Little Champions, a weekly sports incursion for our Preschool and Toddlers Rooms. Through fun, active play, they’ll learn teamwork, perseverance, and the joy of staying active in a supportive and encouraging environment.
